Students Make Valentine’s Day Sweeter for Local Hospital Patients
Swedish Covenant Hospital, in Lincoln Square, received more than 200 hand-made valentines from a nearby school on Thursday.
Most people would feel pretty down about being in the hospital on Valentine’s Day. And that's exactly why a group of students decided to perk up patients at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Lincoln Square.
Sixth, seventh and eighth-graders delivered more than 200 hand-made valentines to the hospital on Thursday. The students are part of Newton Bateman Elementary School’s National Junior Honor Society.
Advisor James Phelps called the hospital a week before the holiday, asking if they’d like to be the recipient of the Valentine's Day act of kindness.

The school, located in Irving Park, has more than 20 students in their NJHS chapter.
