Teachers Trade Books for Burgers at McTeacher's Night
McPherson Elementary teachers took over the McDonald's at Foster and Sheridan Thursday night to raise money for the school.
When McPherson Elementary students approached the counter at McDonald’s, they were surprised to see that the person taking their order was the same one they see in the classroom every day.
More than 20 teachers donned aprons and hopped behind the counter to hand out orders and bag French fries at McTeacher’s Night on Thursday. In turn, McDonald’s donated 20 percent of its sales that night to the school.
McPherson teachers said they’d use the money to buy classroom supplies and library resources.

“Kids are already our loyal customers, so what if we made a night for them?” said Alex Moscosa, the store’s supervisor. “It’s great because we get to have help from the teacher and the kids get to see them working in the store.”
Moscosa sent letters out to area schools and met with principals, including McPherson’s Carmen Mendoza.

“We want to support the kids, but also show them what’s on the menu,” Moscosa said. “We have more options now with oatmeal and salads, a lot of it is under 300 calories.”
Karavites Management, who owns the Sheridan store and other local McDonald’s, hosts McTeacher’s nights every quarter. But with American Education Week this month, they planned seven for November, Moscosa said.
