The Book Cellar Brings Food Network Star to Chicago

A regular judge on the Food Network TV show, "Chopped" is coming to the city, thanks to Lincoln Square's independent book store.

Food Network fans can usually see chef Marcus Samuelsson as a judge on the timed ingredient challenge show, "Chopped," but Saturday, the acclaimed chef will be off the big screen.

In a partnership with Lincoln Square's Book Cellar, Samuelsson will be at the Merchandise Mart Saturday to sign copies of his books from 4 to 6 p.m.

The Ethiopian orphan who was adopted by a Swedish family found a love of food that turned into success on the New York City food scene.

He's been a James Beard Award winner and most recently wrote a memoir, "Yes, Chef." 

So why is Samuelsson coming to Chicago? Aside from the city's amazing restaurants, the chef found inspiration with a now-closed legendary restaurant

"The first time I read Charlie Trotter's—the Chicago chef's first cookbook, I was blown away," he told Food & Wine Magazine.
