North Side Winterfests, Tree-Lighting this Weekend
Everywhere from Lincoln Square to Wrigley is kicking off the holiday season this weekend. See where your family can join in on the celebration.

Winterfest in Roscoe Village, Saturday from 5-9 p.m., Sunday from 1-5 p.m.
Details: Help Roscoe Village bring in the holiday season this weekend. Saturday, the Roscoe Village Chamber of Commerce will light their tree and sing carols starting at 5 p.m. at 2211 West Roscoe Street. Sunday, the whole family can join in a horse-drawn sleigh, trolley rides and Santa Clause.

Details: The Chicago Cubs are hosting their second annual holiday event under the Wrigley Field Marquee, complete with a tree lighting ceremony, ice-skating, a visit from Santa and more. What’s more is the event – and the hot chocolate – are totally free.
Along with Cubs outfielder David DeJesus and his family helping to light the massive tree, the Cubs are partnering with WGN Morning News to host a “Drive-Thru Toy Drive.”

Starting Nov. 25 until the night of the event, residents can bring unwrapped toys to the Cubs’ administrative office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to help area children in need. All the fans that donate will receive a free pass to the Rink at Wrigley, a full-sized ice-skating rink at the Cubs parking lot at the corner of Clark and Waveland.

Holiday Tree Lighting in Lincoln Square, Saturday from 4:30 to 5 p.m.
Details: Celebrate Christmas as the Chamber of Commerce lights the tree in Giddings Plaza. Listen to children from the German School of Chicago and sip on hot chocolate in this holiday tradition. After the lighting, go caroling down Lincoln Avenue.

Lincoln Park Zoo Lights, Saturday and Sunday
Details: Brighten up your holidays with a visit to the Lincoln Park Zoo this weekend for their free weekend of light display. Families can get photos with Santa, free holiday crafts, see live ice carving and ride on the carousel.
