Youth Group Hosts Flash Mob in Giddings Plaza: Video

Teens from the Albany Park Community Center held an impromptu flash mob in Lincoln Square.

Giddings Plaza turned into a dance floor on Saturday when teens from the Albany Park Community Center held a flash mob in Lincoln Square.

“I just thought it’d be something fun; I’d never done or seen one—why not?” Gisele Hennings said.

Hennings works with APCC and coordinated a program with students working in Lincoln Square. The center is moving their executive offices to the neighborhood in December.

“I saw it as an opportunity for both staff members and local residents to get an opportunity meet each other, have a great time, and get bragging rights to having finally participated in a flash mob,” Hennings said.

More than 20 people participated, and even more joined in once the dance party began.

“Thriller” opened up the scene and morphed quickly into the “Cha Cha Slide.” Once the scripted moves were done, it was all about the Korean rap song, “Gangnam Style.”
