2nd Driver In Peotone Head-On Crash Dies: Sheriff
An 82-year-old woman and 24-year-old woman died in the incident, which was the second fatal crash near that intersection last week.
PEOTONE, IL — The second driver in a head-on crash in Peotone Thursday also died later that same day, the Will County Sheriff's Office confirmed Monday.
The two-vehicle, head-on crash near the intersection of Wilmington-Peotone and Center roads involved a Dodge Grand Caravan minivan and a Chevy Spark, the sheriff's office said. Both female drivers were the sole occupants. Initial reports indicate that the Grand Caravan was traveling westbound on Wilmington-Peotone, when it crossed over the center line into oncoming traffic, striking the Spark that was traveling eastbound.
The driver of the minivan—identified by the Kankakee County Coroner's Office as Carmiline Caruso, 82, of Peotone—was taken by Manhattan Fire first responders to Ascension St. Mary in Kankakee, where she later died.
