3 Killed In Fiery Crash: Kankakee County Coroner

Officers tried to save the victims, but they were unable to free them from the vehicle due to the heavy fire, authorities said.

KANKAKEE, IL — Three men died overnight in a fiery crash in Kankakee, according to authorities.

Kiyantis Riley, 45, Philip Birdsong, 48, and Jeffrey Clark II, 41, all died at the scene, the Kankakee County Coroner’s Office said.

The three victims, all Kankakee residents, were traveling in a 2008 GMC Yukon that left the road in the 900 block of South Cobb Boulevard and hit a tree, according to authorities, who said the Yukon was engulfed in flames. Officers tried to save the victims, but they were unable to free them from the vehicle due to the heavy fire, authorities said. The coroner’s office was called to the scene around 1:15 a.m. Sunday, according to authorities.

The crash remains under investigation, authorities said.
