Applications Open For Manhattan's Banner Program To Honor Veterans

Applications must be in by April 30. There are a limited number of positions available.

MANHATTAN, IL — The Manhattan American Legion Post 935 is seeking applicants for its Honor Those Who Served outdoor banner program, an effort to recognize veterans of Manhattan and Manhattan Township.

The program will have a limited number of banner positions along the major streets in Manhattan Township, organizers said, so recipients will be selected via lottery. Banners cost $125 for initial placement.

Forms to apply are available on the American Legion Post's website, or at Manhattan Village Hall, 260 Market Pl. Applications must be in by April 30, and may be submitted via email to honor@americanlegion935.com, or mail to American Legion Post 935, P.O. Box 171, Manhattan, Il. 60442.

Payment by check must be received along with the highest quality picture of the veteran and a copy of proper paperwork verifying Honorable Discharge or its equivalent. Photos will be returned.
