Driver Stopped By Police Flees, Eludes Officers: Manhattan PD
The incident happened Monday before 5 p.m. Police were not able to find the suspect.
MANHATTAN, IL — A driver pulled over for a routine traffic stop in Manhattan Monday fled on foot after police stopped him, leading them on a chase before eventually evading officers.
An officer Monday before 5 p.m. stopped the driver near First and State streets. The driver pulled into the parking lot of First Bank of Manhattan, 230 S. State St., before getting out of the car and running from police.
Manhattan police and Will County Sheriff's officers chased the suspect, losing sight of him near Jessie and Park streets, police said. Authorities were not able to find him.

"There was no known immediate threat to the public during this incident," Manhattan police said Tuesday. "Had there been, an alert to the public would have been issued."
