Elwood Man Charged With Attempted Murder In Lockport Stabbing
The 19-year-old man is accused of stabbing another 18 times in a drug deal gone awry.

LOCKPORT, IL — An Elwood man faces attempted murder charges after police said he stabbed another man more than a dozen times outside a Lockport fitness facility, Homer Glen-Lockport Patch reports.
Christian Mikolaitis, 19, had met with a 23-year-old man to sell narcotics, when police said Mikolaitis allegedly stabbed the victim 18 times in an unprovoked attack, Patch reports.
Lockport officers were called to assist the Lockport Township Park District Police Department at 7:11 p.m. on Sunday, after a man walked into the Challenge Fitness facility for help after being injured, police said.

The victim was provided first aid by facility staff until officers and paramedics arrived. The victim was found to have been stabbed multiple times, police said. The victim was conscious, and was able to provide officers with information about the offender, who was known to him.
The victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition, with 18 stab wounds to multiple parts of his body, including his face, neck, abdomen and legs, police said.

Mikolaitis fled and was later apprehended by Grundy County Sheriff's Office and the Morris Police Department at a rest stop on I-80.
Mikolaitis is in custody at the Will County Adult Detention Facility, awaiting a pretrial detention hearing.
