Man, 61, Fatally Struck By Car: Peotone Police

The man was struck on Route 50 and Corning Avenue Wednesday night.

PEOTONE, IL — A 61-year-old Peotone man died Wednesday after being struck by a car on Route 50.

Police were called just before 8 p.m. to the intersection of Route 50 and Corning Avenue for a pedestrian hit. The man was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee, where he was pronounced dead.

The 17-year-old driver, also from Peotone, was treated and released at the scene, police said.

Route 50 was closed for several hours. The crash remains under investigation.

The victim's identity has not yet been released.
