Man Killed On I-57 ID'd By Coroner

The Will County Coroner's Office on Tuesday identified James R. Murdie, 64, of Manhattan, who was killed on Interstate 57 Friday.

MANHATTAN, IL — The Will County Coroner's Office Tuesday identified on its Facebook page the pedestrian who was killed Friday on Interstate 57 near Peotone.

James R. Murdie, 64, of Manhattan, was fatally struck by a vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Illinois State Police. Murdie was a pedestrian in the southbound lane of I-57 where he was struck by a passing vehicle, police said.

Visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Christian Life Assembly of God Church, 2960 E. Division St. in Diamond, according to an obituary posted on Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Funeral service will immediately follow visitation at 7 p.m. A private committal service will be held on Friday at Wilton Cemetery, in Wilton Center.

Illinois State Police said the case is still under investigation.
