Manhattan Fire District Accepting Applications For Full-Time Spots
Applications and materials are due by Friday, July 21, at 2 p.m.
MANHATTAN, IL — Manhattan Fire Protection District is accepting applications for an eligibility list for full-time firefighters/paramedics, officials said.
Starting salary is $70,200, with a five-year salary with incentives of just over $100,000, the district shared.
MFPD is an all-hazards ISO Class 1 fire department, responding to 2,700 calls to service annually to Manhattan, Peotone, and unincorporated Will County, according to its website. The district is an active member of MABAS Division 19 and maintains several specialty teams which include Technical Rescues, Hazardous Materials, Swift Water Rescue, and Fire Investigation.

Eligibility testing requirements can be found online. An application is available online. Applicants must be 21 years of age and under 35 years of age at time of application. All required documentation needs to be in by Friday, July 21, at 2 p.m.
Candidates will be required to attend a mandatory orientation and written examination on Wednesday, August 9. The test will be held at Manhattan Junior High School, 15606 W. Smith Rd.
