Manhattan Police Officer Forgets Gun At Lockport Restaurant: Report

A Manhattan police officer could face disciplinary action after leaving their gun behind at a Lockport business.

MANHATTAN, IL — A Manhattan police commander could face disciplinary action after leaving his gun behind at a Lockport business.

The officer called Lockport police at 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 19, after realizing they did not have their Smith & Wesson handgun. The officer had just left Noodles and Company, 16341 W. 159th St., and noticed the gun to be missing just 10 minutes later.

The officer returned to the restaurant, could not find the gun, and then contacted the Lockport Police Department to report it missing.

When officers conducted a check on the firearm’s serial number, they learned that the gun had already been turned in to the Joliet Police Department. The officer was provided that information.

No further action was taken by the Lockport Police Department.

Manhattan Police Chief Ryan Gulli said the officer could face disciplinary action.
