Manhattan Woman, 4-Year-Old Son Died By Gunshot: Police
Police said Tuesday that a Manhattan woman, 39, and her 4-year-old son were both found with gunshot wounds in an apparent murder-suicide.
MANHATTAN, IL — A 39-year-old Manhattan woman and her 4-year-old son died by gunshots in what police say was an apparent murder-suicide Friday.
Sarah Durkin and her son, identified by police as Caden, were found dead inside their Manhattan home in the 700 block of 3rd Street the afternoon of June 23, after police responded to a neighbor's 911 call reporting a shooting, Manhattan Police Chief Jeff Wold said.
Police on scene determined the incident was isolated, and no threat was posed to the public, Wold said.

The Will County Coroner's Office conducted autopsies Saturday, June 24. An official statement on cause and manner of death will come from the coroner at a later date.
