Manhattan's Round Barn Heritage Fest Offers Family Fun, Road Races

The annual community fest takes place Saturday and offers a variety of events ranging from pie-eating contests to a square dance and tours.

MANHATTAN, IL – While the official start of summer has yet to arrive both on the calendar and with the cooler air temperatures, The Village of Manhattan is kicking the season off in style with a popular community event.

The annual Round Barn Heritage Fest will be held between 12 and 7 p.m. on Saturday when local residents will be able to enjoy a number of family-friendly events.

Events for the community festival begin early with a 5K Run For The Round Barn slated to begin at 7:30 a.m. A sand volleyball tournament follows at 9 a.m. before other events follow. Highlights include The Will County Barn Quilt Tour, hayrides, barn tours, a cake walk, the Round Barn Rumble 1-Mile Fun Run, Family Field Day, and a pie-eating contest, organizers said.

The Bobby Poyner 40th anniversary square dance takes place at 5 p.m. and food and drinks will be available throughout the day. The event is free and registration for the 5K and Mile fun run can be completed by clicking here. The quilt tour requires a ticket and tickets may be obtained by clicking here.
