Missing Manhattan Man Died By Drowning: Coroner

Anthony Fehrenbacher, 47, was found dead in a lake at CECO Recreation Club in Coal City Saturday morning.

COAL CITY, IL — An autopsy completed on Manhattan man Anthony Fehrenbacher determined the 47-year-old died by drowning, Grundy County Coroner John Callahan said.

The body of Fehrenbacher was found early Saturday morning floating in a lake at CECO Recreation Club, 1210 N. Dresden Rd. Grundy County Sheriff Ken Briley said. Fehrenbacher had been missing since May 26.

Briley said Saturday the death would be investigated as a homicide to rule out foul play. Coroner John Callahan said a manner of death will not be declared until an investigation is completed.
