Patient, Paramedics Safe After Manhattan Ambulance Struck: Chief

A patient inside the ambulance sustained no additional injuries, officials said.

MANHATTAN, IL — A patient in transport was not injured further, and the paramedics onboard a Manhattan Fire Protection District ambulance transporting them were unharmed when the ambulance was struck by a vehicle Monday, officials said.

Around 11 a.m., the ambulance was hit by another vehicle near Route 45 and Armour Road in Bourbonnais, Manhattan Fire Protection District Chief Steve Malone said. The ambulance was transporting a patient with non-life-threatening injuries to Riverside Hospital. The patient was safely transferred to Bourbonnais Fire Protection District personnel for continued transport.

The driver of the second vehicle in the collision was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, officials said.
