MANHATTAN, IL — If you’re among the millions of Americans traveling this Thanksgiving, you may be in for some sticker shock at the gas pump.

Gas prices are at a seven-year high heading into the holiday weekend, according to a recent AAA report. As of Nov. 19, the average price for a gallon of gas in the United States was $3.41.
Last year, gas prices hovered around $2.12 per gallon just before the Thanksgiving holiday.

How much can you expect to pay at the pump in Manhattan? AAA data shows the average price for a gallon of gas in Will County was $3.59 on Friday. Average prices are updated daily.

If you live in the western United States, you’re likely paying some of the highest gas prices in the nation. As of Nov. 17, gas prices were as much as $4.69 in California, $3.98 in Nevada, $3.87 in Washington state and $3.78 in Oregon.

Meanwhile, Southern states including Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kentucky are enjoying the nation’s lowest gas prices, ranging from $2.99 to $3.18 per gallon.

Destinations vary this Thanksgiving, but AAA says the top five destinations this year are Orlando, Anaheim, Dallas, Phoenix and Hawaii.
