PEOTONE, IL — The driver of a minivan in a two-vehicle crash in Peotone Thursday died from her injuries, the Will County Sheriff's Office said.
The two-vehicle, head-on crash near the intersection of Wilmington-Peotone and Center roads involved a Dodge Grand Caravan minivan and a Chevy Spark, the sheriff's office said. Both female drivers were the sole occupants. Initial reports indicate that the Grand Caravan was traveling westbound on Wilmington-Peotone, when it crossed over the center line into oncoming traffic, striking the Spark that was traveling eastbound.
A helicopter was called to the scene, but did not transport patients. The driver of the minivan was transported by Manhattan Fire first responders to St. Mary's Hospital, where she later died, the sheriff's office said. Her identity has not been released.
