Woman, 65, Killed In Manhattan Crash Identified

The Will County Coroner's office has released the name of a woman killed April 27 when her car was struck by a semi truck.

MANHATTAN, IL — A woman who was killed when the car she was driving was struck by a semi truck in rural Manhattan has been identified.

Kay Bourke, 65, was killed April 27 when her car was hit at the intersection of Wilmington-Peotone and Cedar roads in Manhattan, according to the Will County Coroner's office. Her identity was disclosed after Patch filed a Freedom of Information request.

Will County Sheriff's police believe Bourke was driving southbound on Cedar Road in a 2017 Ford hatchback, when she failed to stop for oncoming traffic. A semi headed westbound on Wilmington-Peotone Road struck the car on the driver's side as it entered the intersection. The driver of the semi attempted to avoid the car, but was unsuccessful, the sheriff's office said. There is not a stop sign on Wilmington-Peotone Road at that intersection.
