2 Charged After Meijer Retail Theft, Scuffle With Cops: PD

The incident happened Friday night at Meijer in Mokena. One suspect was captured after police attempted to deploy a Taser.

MOKENA, IL — Two men face several charges following a retail theft, chase and struggle with police at Meijer in Mokena Friday night, police said.

Police were called just after 8 p.m. Friday to the store, 11305 W Lincoln Hwy., for a report of retail theft. Officers found the suspects getting into a car in the parking lot, police said.

One suspect fled on foot, and was captured by Mokena and Frankfort police officers, during which a struggle ensued, Chief Brian Benton said. A taser was deployed, with only one prong striking suspect Kevin Robinson, 53, of Joliet, Benton said.

A second suspect also fled on foot, and was later found walking along Wolf Road in possession of stolen alcohol, Benton said.

Robinson was charged with aggravated battery to a police officer, retail theft, resisting/obstructing a peace officer, and possession of a controlled substance. He was detained at the Will County Jail.

The second suspect, identified as Anthony Jackson, 43, of Joliet, was charged with retail theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting/obstructing a peace officer. He was released on his signature, Benton said.
