7 Mokena, 2 Tinley Businesses Hit In Overnight Smash And Grabs: PD

Three Frankfort businesses were also hit, police there said. The burglaries took place in the early morning hours.

MOKENA, IL — A dozen businesses in Mokena, Tinley Park and Frankfort were hit by a smash and grab burglary crew early Friday morning, police said.

In Mokena, seven businesses along the Route 30 corridor and on LaGrange Road were hit. In Frankfort, three were struck along LaGrange Road. Two businesses in Tinley Park were also struck, Tinley Park Police Chief Thomas Tilton confirmed.

The crew appeared to sweep businesses along Route 30 in Mokena, beginning just after 4 a.m. Targeted were Jet's Pizza, Pop's Beef, Crumbl Cookies, Great Clips, Subway, Oberweis and also Smoke Shop on LaGrange Rd.

In Tinley Park, a Subway and Great Clips were hit.

Mokena calls started around 4:15 a.m. at Pop's Beef, with more popping up along Rte. 30 as police responded to the first.

Frankfort businesses were hit beginning at 4:30 a.m. with Little Caesar's, Tropical Smoothie Café and Bellavan Nail Salon targeted, NBC reports.

The value or amount taken from each business was not yet known early Friday. In Mokena, cash registers were taken, Benton said, but it's unclear how much they contained.

Area police pursued the offending vehicle to Chicago, but the suspects evaded authorities, Mokena Police Chief Brian Benton said. Police said they believe there are six suspects involved.

Tinley Park Police Chief said a vehicle has been recovered in connection with the burglaries.

Earlier this week, 20 businesses were struck in similar overnight burglaries in Downers Grove.
