All About Music To Perform During Firecracker Weekend

The Mokena music and theater group is set to perform July 16.

MOKENA, IL — Mokena's All About Music & Children's Theatre will get the party started July 16 for Firecracker weekend with sneak-peek performances of its upcoming "101 Dalmatians" and "Getting to Know Footloose The Musical," as well as solo performances by members of its private lessons group.

The festivities will begin at 6 p.m. in the Metra lot on Front Street with a presentation of colors by the Mokena VFW and national anthem sung by All About Music participants, said the group's Director Connie Johnson.

Following the singing of the national anthem, children will perform a sneak-peek of their upcoming "101 Dalmatians."

Food will be available for purchase from Aurelio's, and beverages — including those of the adult variety — will be mixed up by members of the Mokena Lions Club.

The performances will take place under a tent curtesy of Mokena Lions Club , Johnson said, so festivities will proceed as scheduled in the event of light rain.

All About Music is requesting donations for admittance in the form of items for veterans or a $5 monetary donation, Johnson said. Donated items will go to the Manteno Veteran's Home. A list of needed items can be found here.
