Intruder Ate the Coffee Cake

A burglar from Mokena helps himself to a Troy Township family's groceries and enjoys the Christmas lights before he's nabbed by Will County Sheriff's police.

A Mokena man who ran out of gas in the wee hours of Dec. 16 broke into a Troy Township family's home, helped himself to some groceries, turned on the Christmas tree, played with the family cat and watch a little TV, according to a SunTimesMedia story.

According to the Will County Sheriff's Department, Daniel F. Bailey, 32, Mokena, is charged with residential burglary, property damage, retail theft, battery and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond is set at $75,000.

The Troy Township family told police that they were asleep about 4 a.m. when they heard Bailey in the house. He told them he had run out of gas. Read the SunTimesMedia story for more details of Bailey's help-yourself burglary.
