Chimney Fire Forces Residents From Home: Officials
A fire at a home in Mokena Sunday resulted in damage to the home, but officials said no one was injured.
MOKENA, IL — A fire at a home Sunday in Mokena has left the residents temporarily displaced, according to a Facebook post Monday by the Frankfort Fire Protection District.
The fire happened at approximately 7:39 p.m. Sunday in the 21100 block of Sage Brush Lane in Mokena, according to the post. Firefighters arrived within five minutes and found the fire coming from the attic of the two-story home, according to the post.
The fire was under control within 30 minutes, according to the post. The fire originated in the home's chimney and spread to the areas around the chimney and fireplace, as well as areas in the first and second floors, according to the post.

Frankfort FPD estimated damages to be between $250,000 and $300,000, according to the post. No injuries to the people in the home or to any of the firefighters were reported, according to the post, though the damage was severe enough that the people living in the home are temporarily displaced.
