The vessel safety checks will be offered Saturday, May 4 at the Mokena Park District office.

MOKENA, IL — The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will partner with the Mokena Park District on Saturday, May 4 to offer free Vessel Safety Checks to anyone.

U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Division 37 will be at the Mokena Park District office, 10925 W. LaPorte Road from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will provide a free Vessel Safety Check to all recreational boaters. Is your vessel compliant with federal and state boating regulations? A Coast Guard Auxiliary Vessel Safety Check will let you know. If you pass the exam, you will receive a sticker showing that you passed an examination for the current year. If you do not pass, you will be told what you need to do to become compliant. These examinations are available for power boats, personal watercraft (jet ski’s), and paddle craft.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary will also have information on various recreational boating safety topics and information on attending safe boating classes. Come out and meet your local Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla.
