Egg Shipment Goes Up In Flames On I-80: IL State Police

A semitrailer hauling eggs became fully engulfed in flames over the weekend in the south suburbs, according to police.

MOKENA, IL — A shipment of eggs on a semitrailer skipped the frying pan and went straight into the fire when the vehicle was engulfed in flames Friday night in Mokena, according to police.

The semi was hauling over 20,000 pounds of eggs, ABC Chicago reported.

The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on westbound Interstate 80 near La Grange Road, police said. The truck was hauling eggs when it went up in flames on the right shoulder, according to police.

No injuries were reported at the scene and all lanes had reopened as of about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, police said.
