Find Willy, Win A Kite In Forest Preserve Scavenger Hunt

The Forest Preserve District of Will County's mascot, Willy, will be hidden in four preserves, including Hickory Creek Preserve in Mokena.

MOKENA, IL — Eagle-eyed visitors of the Forest Preserve District of Will County who spot and get a photo of an unusual woodchuck in four of the preserves can win a prize, according to a news release from the Forest Preserve.

The Where's Willy Scavenger Hunt will run throughout August. Willy is the Forest Preserve's mascot. A cutout of the furry, cartoon-ish woodchuck will be hidden among four Forest Preserve sites: Goodenow Grove Nature Preserve in Crete Township, Hammel Woods in Shorewood, McKinley Woods in Channahon and Hickory Creek Preserve in Mokena.

Visitors who spot Willy at all four sites and provide the pics to prove it will win a kite, according to the Forest Preserve. The scavenger hunt is free to participate in and open to all ages.

Clues as to Willy's whereabouts will be posted on the Forest Preserve website.

The hunt for Willy will kick off at 8 a.m. Aug.1 and ends Aug. 31.
