MOKENA, IL — Former Mokena Fire Protection District Trustee Kenneth Lenz died July 26, according to a press release from MFPD. He was 84 years old.
Lenz served in his role as trustee for 21 years, from 1998-2019.
"He had been a valued member of Mokena Fire and will be missed. Our deepest sympathies to his family and friends," MFPD wrote in the press release.

Lenz is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Lou (nee Pohlman); children Kenneth, Jr. (Debby) Lenz, Michael (Natalie) Lenz, David (Joanne) Lenz, Cheryl (Joe) Onesto, Daniel (Colleen) Lenz and Kevin (Michiko) Lenz; grandchildren Nina, Kamiko, Jeff, Sara, Kenny, Chris, Kristi, Steve, Joseph, Matt, Dan and Sydnie; great-grandchildren Kohana and Noah.
Lenz was preceded in death by his parents Otto Herman, Sr. and Ursula (Bartels) Lenz; and brothers Otto Herman Lenz, Jr. and Robert Oliver Lenz. Also surviving him are numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Lenz worked at Andrew Corporation in Orland Park for over 30 years. Early in life, he served as President of the Merrionette Park Volunteer Fire Department. He volunteered as a Cub Scout leader and youth baseball coach.
Lenz was elected to multiple terms as a member of the Mokena School District 159 School Board, serving from 1973-1988, which included being appointed president of the board by his peers for many of those years.
The family will receive friends at from 3-8 p.m. July 30 at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 Francis Road in New Lenox. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. July 31 in the funeral home chapel. Interment at Bethania Cemetery, 7701 Archer Ave. in Justice.
