Mokena Couple Spread Drug Dealing Rumors About Next-Door Neighbor: Lawsuit

The couple told other neighbors, children and the cops that the guy next-door sells drugs out of his house, the lawsuit said.

MOKENA, IL — A Mokena man sued his next-door neighbors, claiming they spread scurrilous rumors about him selling drugs out of his home.

Michael Menias, 37, filed his lawsuit against neighbors Colleen and Richard Grabenhofer in Will County court.

Menias accused the Grabenhofers of telling not only the Mokena police, but also unidentified neighbors and children, that he is a home-based drug dealer.

Menias was arrested in December 2014 and charged with — not selling drugs — but filing fraudulent sales tax returns while he was working for Joe’s Tobacco.

The felony case, which is being prosecuted by the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, remains pending. Menias is free on $75,000 bond.
