Mokena Veterans Day Ceremony Scheduled For Saturday
The ceremony honoring military veterans and active members of the armed forces will be held at 11 a.m. at Pioneer Cemetery.
MOKENA, IL — A Mokena VFW Post will hold a Veterans Day ceremony on Saturday, commemorating the day set aside to honor military veterans as well as those who are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Services.
The ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. and will be held at Pioneer Cemetery which is located near the intersection of South Wolf Road and Denny Avenue. The ceremony will be hosted by William Martin VFW Post 725 and is open to the public.
The public is invited to attend a luncheon at the VFW Post, which is located at 19852 Wolf Road. Food will be served until 2 p.m.

Veterans Day is always Nov. 11, which falls on Saturday this year.
Replacing the former Armistice Day, which commemorated the end of World War I, Veterans Day became an official holiday in 1954 to thank and honor all of those who have served honorably in the military, whether in wartime or peacetime.
