Mokena Voters Guide: Races To Watch, Election Day Voting

MOKENA, IL — Election Day is upon us, and all eyes are turned to the results of the presidential race of Vice President Kamala Harris against former President Donald Trump. If you didn't get a chance to early vote, polls open at 6 a.m. on Tuesday.

Besides the presidential race, there are also several referenda and races locally and state-wide.

Races to watch in Mokena:

• IL Senate 19th District: Democrat Michael Hastings vs. Republican Samantha Jean Gasca
• Summit Hill District 161 Referendum
  • Do you approve of the process by which the Board of Education for Summit Hill School District 161 closed Arbury Hills and Frankfort Square schools without a corresponding reduction in the property tax levy rate? Yes/No

Will County races to watch:

• Will County Coroner: Democrat incumbent Laurie Summers versus Republican challenger Robert Enright.
• Will County Auditor: Democrat incumbent Kevin "Duffy" Blackburn versus Republican challenger James Robert Buiter.
• Will County Executive: Democrat incumbent Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant against Republican challenger Charles "Chuck" Maher.
• Will County Circuit Clerk: Democrat incumbent Andrea Lynn Chasteen against Republican challenger Diane Harris
• Will County Clerk: Democrat challenger Michelle Stiff versus Republican challenger Annette Parker.

Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow is running unopposed.

Registering to vote

Not sure if you’re registered to vote, or need to change your address? You can find out here. If you aren't registered by Election Day, you'll need to register in person at a grace period registration site. Call ahead to ensure that your polling place offers same-day registration. If you register to vote in person, you’ll need two forms of ID, and at least one must show your current address.

Election Day

Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. If you are already in line to vote when the polls close, you can still vote — so don't leave!
