Parked Vehicles Should Remain Off Street: Village

With the season's first real snowfall Tuesday, the Village of Mokena is requesting residents to park vehicles in driveways and off streets.

MOKENA, IL — Winter is here, finally, and the Village of Mokena is asking residents to park vehicles in their driveways rather than on streets to allow Village snow removal crews room to work.

In an alert sent Tuesday by the Village, residents were told that "Parked vehicles should remain off the street, as this preventive measure allows our Public Works crews to clear the entire street for you and your neighbors."

The message further advised that "Violators may be ticketed."

The National Weather Service on Tuesday predicted that some areas in Chicagoland could get as much as 1-3 inches of snow, with the heaviest snowfall expected to continue through 3 p.m.

The NWS is advising people to avoid non-essential travel, to slow down if they must drive and to increase following distance while driving.
