Metra Train In Mokena Hits, Kills Orland Park Man: Officials

MOKENA, IL — An Orland Park resident was struck and killed by a Metra train in Mokena Wednesday, according to Metra spokesperson Michael Gillis.

John Greenan, 53, was pronounced dead at approximately 8:25 p.m. Wednesday, according to information posted Thursday on the Will County Coroner's Office Facebook page.

The Metra Police Department is investigating the incident, Gillis said.

Greenan was walking along the railroad tracks at approximately 6:40 p.m. Wednesday near 191st Street and LaGrange Road when he was struck and killed by an outbound Rock Island Metra train, Gillis said.

The Mokena Police Department assisted with traffic control following the incident, but it is not involved in the investigation, according to Mokena Police Chief Brian Benton.
