Runner Fatally Struck By Car ID'ed As Flossmoor Man: Mokena PD

MOKENA, IL — A 37-old Flossmoor man died Wednesday morning after being struck by a car near a trail in Mokena, police said Friday.

Tho Le was reportedly struck near Owens Road and Old Plank Trail just before 7 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

Witnesses told police Le was running on the trail and coming out of the woods, when he ran "at a full sprint" in front of a northbound car, police said. Other drivers present told police the car had no time to stop.

The car struck Le, and he was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, where he was pronounced dead at 8:42 a.m, the Will County Coroner's Office said.

No citations were issued to the driver, Mokena Police Chief Brian Benton said.
