Street of Dreams Theatre Opens Registration for Fall Stage Craft Program Supporting Footloose
From sets to spotlights, students learn the craft of live theatre
Street of Dreams Theatre will again offer its hands-on Theatre Stage Craft program this fall, inviting teens to step behind the curtain and learn the skills that make live productions possible - while working on the studio’s upcoming production of Footloose. The session begins Sunday, Sept. 7, and is open to students ages 13–18.
Designed for young people curious about how shows come together, Stage Craft covers set design and basic construction, lighting and sound fundamentals, prop and wardrobe handling, stage crew operations, safety, and running a show from cue to curtain. Participants gain practical experience in a workshop setting and during production week for Footloose at Lincoln-Way East.
Important note: Because Stage Craft meets at the same time as Street of Dreams’ theatre rehearsals, students cannot enroll in both. This program is intended for those interested in working behind the scenes.

Most classes meet at The Alley, 10810 Walnut Street in Mokena (aptly nicknamed for its location down the alley). Late-session dates take place at Lincoln-Way East as students prepare to run technical and backstage operations for Footloose.

For teens who prefer power tools to spotlights—or who simply want to understand the craft that supports every performer—Stage Craft offers a welcoming, collaborative way to build confidence, creativity, and real-world technical skills while helping bring Footloose to the stage. Spots are limited and early registration is encouraged.
