Teen Driver To Be Cited After 5-Car Crash In Mokena: Police

The accident happened Tuesday afternoon at LaGrange and LaPorte roads in Mokena.

MOKENA, IL — A 17-year-old driver will be cited after causing a five-vehicle crash in Mokena Tuesday afternoon.

Police were calld to LaGrange and LaPorte roads Tuesday just before 4 p.m., for a report of a five-vehicle crash. A truck pulling a trailer with two vehicles on it was traveling south on LaGrange Road. A white Lexus, driven by a 17-year-old male, turned westbound in front of the truck, causing it to hit the car and veer into oncoming traffic, where it struck a second vehicle and triggered a chain reaction crash, Mokena Police Chief Brian Benton said.

The driver of the second vehicle that was struck was transported to Silver Cross Hospital with minor injuries. In all, four vehicles were towed from the scene, Benton said.

The accident is still under investigation.
