The Lincoln-Way Area Honors the Veterans on Memorial Day

Share your story about veterans and memories about Memorial Day.

The Lincoln-Way communities have a long history of honoring its fallen veterans and current veterans for the sacrifices they have made to keep this nation safe. The members of the VFW posts in Mokena, Frankfort and New Lenox along with the American Legion in New Lenox are heading up solemn ceremonies.

Mokena honors its fallen veterans with the annual Memorial Day parade at 10 a.m. May 27 along Wolf Road. It starts at St. Mary's Cemetery at 195th Street and proceeds south to Pioneer Cemetery and then ending at St. John's Cemetery.  There will be short memorial and salute at each of the cemeteries. Bands from Lincoln-Way High School District 210 and Mokena Junior High will join in.

The William Martin VFW Post 725, 19443 Wolf Road, invites parade-goers back to the VFW for a hot dog.  There will be entertainment provided by "All About Music's" Todd and Connie Beebe and also some of their music students.  Everyone is welcome.
