Volunteers Needed For Brush Clearing At Hickory Creek Preserve

The event is being held in conjunction with National Public Lands Day​, is traditionally the nation's largest single-day volunteer effort.

MOKENA, IL — The Forest Preserve District of Will County is seeking volunteers to help with brush control from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 25 at Hickory Creek Preserve in Mokena.

The event is being held in connection with National Public Lands Day, which "celebrates the connection between people and green space in their community, inspires environmental stewardship, and encourages use of open space for education, recreation, and health benefits," according to the National Park Service.

Those interested in volunteering must first complete a waiver online. Follow this link to complete the waiver.

Those who already have a waiver on file should contact Volunteer Services Supervisor Emily Kenny at (815) 722-7364 or email ekenny@fpdwc.org to reserve a spot.

Participants should dress for outdoor work, including sturdy closed-toe shoes, long sleeves and long pants. People of all ages are able to participate, but those under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
