Woman Found With Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound In Park: PD
The Will County Coroner's Office is investigating the death of the woman who was found unresponsive in Mokena's Main Park on Sunday.
MOKENA, IL — The Mokena Police Department and the Will County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate the discovery of a woman who was found dead in Main Park on Sunday.
Mokena Police said on Monday night that a woman was found in Main Park on Sunday morning with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police said that they were alerted of a non-responsive person and were told by a local resident that a person was sleeping in the park, Mokena Police Chief Brian Benton told Patch on Tuesday.
Police arrived to find the woman dead. Benton said that the Coroner's Office told police on Monday that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.

The Will County Coroner’s Office is handling the investigation and police said that they are withholding the identity of the woman until her family can be told.
