2 Arrested In Montgomery Gunshots Investigation: Sheriff's Office

The sheriff's office said a firearm, ammunition, and narcotics were recovered during investigation.

MONTGOMERY, IL β€” Two people have been arrested during an investigation into recent gunshots reported in unincorporated Montgomery. According to the Kendall County Sheriff's Office, authorities investigated reports of shots fired on Nov. 23 and 29 in the areas of Marnel Road and Chatham Road, and as a result saturation patrols were implemented with area law enforcement agencies. The investigation and patrol partnerships led to authorities executing a search warrant just after 9 p.m., Dec. 1 at a home in the 0-100 block of Chatham Place, the sheriff's office said.

During the search Marchelo A. Nelson, of Montgomery, and a male juvenile were arrested. According to the sheriff's office, Nelson was arrested on three outstanding warrants and the male juvenile was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm.

A firearm, ammunition, and narcotics were recovered during the search, officials said.

Patch reported at the end of November that according to the sheriff's office, the gunshots appeared to be a targeted incident involving illegal narcotics, and not a random act of violence.
