26 Years In Prison: Montgomery Man Gets Sentence For Child Sex Assault
The 40-year-old man sexually assaulted a child younger than 13 multiple times between February 2020 and July 2021, officials said.

MONTGOMERY, IL — A Montgomery man's guilty plea to predatory criminal sexual assault of a child landed him 26 years in prison, prosecutors said.
The 40-year-old Gerardo Silva pleaded guilty to two counts of the Class X felony in exchange for the prison term, which Kane County Judge Alice Tracy accepted.
Prosecutors with the Kane County State's Attorney's Office determined the man sexually assaulted a child on multiple occasions between February 2020 and July 2021. He was acquainted with the girl, who was younger than 13 years old.

"This victim bravely came forward to talk about her ongoing abuse," Assistant State's Attorney Stacey Wittman said in a statement. "I am grateful for her courage and patience while this case has been pending."
Silva, of the 2200 block of Cornell Avenue, is required by law to serve 85 percent of his sentence. He receives credit for the 843 days spent in the Kane County jail.
