Kifowit to Host Backyard Conservation Forum

State Rep. Stephanie Kifowit

AURORA, Ill. –With the popularity of green space conservation and sustainability on the rise, state Rep. Stephanie Kifowit, D-Oswego, will host a “Backyard Conservation Forum” Thursday, March 19 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Aurora Public Library located at 555 S. Eola Rd.

“Green thumbs and shovels are not necessary for this free event,” Kifowit said. “This event is meant to teach adults very practical home improvement projects for the outdoors that even kids could enjoy.”

Kifowit’s Backyard Conservation Forum will feature guest speaker Jim Kleinwachter who will talk about sustainable landscaping like planting native Illinois plants that naturally regrow despite the state’s often unpredictable weather fluctuations. Other lessons include how to create butterfly gardens and bird-landscaping designs that are beautiful, conservation-friendly and educational for children.

To RSVP or for more information, please contact Kifowit’s constituent service office by phone at 630-585-1308, by email at Stephanie.Kifowit@att.net, or by visiting www.ILDistrict84.com.
