Lakewood Creek Residents Urged to Help Keep the Neighborhood Safe
The Lakewood Creek Subdivision Neighborhood Watch joins a number of watch programs popping up in Montgomery.

After becoming concerned about the rising amount of car and home break-ins in their Lakewood Creek neighborhood, Pat and Nicole Conner decided to take action.
The duo are now coordinators for the Lakewood Creek Subdivision Neighborhood Watch, and hope to get more people involved.
“If we call come together and we’re all looking out for each other, the chances of things happening will reduce greatly,” said Pat Conner.
What can Lakewood Creek residents do to help keep crime down?
“One of the biggest things we tell everybody is turn the outside lights on,” Pat Conner said. “You’ll have less chance of people wanting to come in and do something they shouldn’t because they have a fear of being caught.”
Residents should also keep their car doors locked.
“People are looking for cell phones, iPods, little things they can quickly grab,” Pat Conner said.
Though the primary goal of the watch program is to make the neighborhood more crime resistant, the Conners said it’s not just about policing.
“It’s helping each other out,” Pat Conner said.
Eventually the couple would like to start hosting neighborhood events.
“We want to get people together who may not have had a chance to meet,” Pat Conner said.
Lakewood Creek joins a number of Neighborhood Watch programs popping up in Montgomery.
For three years, residents of the Fairfield Way and Foxmoor subdivisions have participated in a successful , the first one on the west side and the largest in the.
Other Neighborhood Watch groups on the west side include organizations in the Orchard Prairie North, Lakewood Creek West, Huntington Chase, Blackberry Crossing and Balmorea subdivisions. The Montgomery Police Department provides information on forming your own group here.
The Conners hope more people will join them in their venture to keep the neighborhood safe.
“Nobody wants to live in a community afraid somebody might break into our cars and houses but it’s happening so hopefully we can minimize what happens,” Pat Conner said.
