Retail Theft, Accidental Gunshot: Montgomery Police Logs

Montgomery police released their activity log from Thursday, Nov. 15, outlining a retail theft arrest and an accidental gunshot.

MONTGOMERY, IL β€” Montgomery police released a log of their activity on Thursday, Nov. 15. They made an arrest over a retail theft charge and cited a man after allegedly shooting his gun accidentally into a neighboring home, causing no injuries.

On Thursday, Nov. 15, around 8 p.m., police responded to a business in the 2000 block of Orchard Road on a retail theft call. They arrested Megan Fleming, 32, of Bristol, on a retail theft charge. Police later found that she'd been convicted of retail theft before, so police charged her with felony retail theft. She was released on notice.

On Thursday, Nov. 15, around 8:15 p.m., police responded to the 2900 block of Meadowview Lane on a report of shorts fired. Police later found that it was accidental and that there were no injuries. The shooter, Franklin Devries, hit a neighboring house causing minor property damage, police said. Devries was released on scene and faces a local ordinanance charge.
