Senior Safety And Crime Prevention Presentation Set For Jan. 8
Officials said a few of the scams to be discussed include letter scams, phone and telemarketer fraud, and home repair fraud.

MONTGOMERY, IL — The Village of Montgomery will hold a presentation on safety and crime prevention for seniors Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 10 a.m. in the board room at Village Hall (200 N. River Street). Police officials will share information on common scams and how to stay safe, online and on the street.
"As people grow older, their chances of being victims of crime increase dramatically," said Deputy Chief Armando Sanders, who will lead the program. "Even though they may be on the lookout constantly for physical attack and burglary, sometimes they're not as alert for frauds and con games — which in reality are the greatest crime threats to seniors' well-being and trust."
Sanders said a few of the scams he will discuss include letter scams, phone and telemarketer fraud, and home repair fraud.
