Trash, Recycling Consolidated For Friday, Saturday Collection
Officials called the decision a "last resort."

MONTGOMERY, IL — Trash and recycling pickup will be running late in Montgomery Thursday, according to a news release. Workers with DC Recycling, which contracts with the city for garbage disposal, will get as much done Thursday as they can, officials said, but what isn't picked up today will be picked up by 6 p.m. Saturday.
In addition, as a "last resort," DC Recycling will be consolidating trash and recycling pick up on Friday and Saturday, officials said.
"Due to the historically low temperatures, DC Recycling Systems has made the decision to consolidate waste and recycling routes for Friday, February 1st and Saturday, February 2nd," the village posted to Facebook Thursday afternoon. "Residents who place recycling carts out for collection will notice those carts being emptied, along with their waste, into a garbage truck. If residents would prefer not to place recycling out in light of this, we would encourage them to wait for next week’s standard service day.

"This is a last-resort measure, but one we have made based on the safety welfare of our drivers, the amount of downed vehicles and the domino effect caused by disposal facilities that have been closed yesterday and today."
