Chicago Suburb Makes List Of Top 50 Places To Live In U.S.

See which suburb was the only place in Illinois to make Money's 2021 roundup.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville was the only city in Illinois to make Money's 2021 roundup of The 50 Best Places to Live in the U.S. The study weighed such factors as a city's home prices, job growth and general quality of life among municipalities with fewer than 500,000 residents.

Naperville came in at number 45, just behind Salem, New Hampshire, but ahead of Westford, Massachusetts, Plainview, New York and Mission Viejo, California.

In its review, Money called Naperville an "affordable outpost for Chicago commuters" and praised the city's entertainment options and gave a nod to the Last Fling, India Day festivities, the Riverwalk and Centennial Beach.

According to Money, Naperville's median home price is $391,560 and its median household income is $127,207.

To compile the 2021 list of 50 Best Places to Live in the U.S., Money reviewed municipalities with populations of between 25,000 and 500,000 residents. They then studied the nine categories of metrics that included:
