Chicago Suburb Makes Money Magazine's 2022 Best Places To Live List

NAPERVILLE, IL — For the second year in a row, Naperville has earned a spot on Money magazine's roundup of the 50 Best Places to Live in the U.S.

The city came in at number 16 in the magazine's 2022 rankings and was just one of two places in Illinois to make the list. Rogers Park, a neighborhood on Chicago's north side, came in at number five.

In the description of Naperville, Money Magazine's Mary Ellen Cagnassola wrote of the city's top-ranking public schools, its favorable economy and its family-friendly amenities.

Cagnassola wrote,

"The city’s many recreational activities are another reason families say they love living here. Take a stroll through Riverwalk Park, or visit the Morton Arboretum to see spectacular fall colors and lush summer and springtime greenery. More of a beach person? Naperville’s Centennial Beach along the Dupage River will satisfy your swimming and sunbathing needs."

Money Magazine's 2022 methodology included new data points for the 2022 roundup. Among these was focusing on municipalities with "more regional diversity" and racial representation and integration within each municipality.

Analysts chose the top-ranking places in the U.S. from a group of more than 1,300 cities with populations of 20,000 or more. The full list of factors weighed in the rankings included:

• Economic opportunity
• Education
• Fun and amenities
• Health and safety
• Housing market
• Income and personal finance
• Quality of life
